Lives of the Spirit: "Awe and a Meaningful life: Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel"

    September 28, 2023

Led by Rabbi Scott Hausman-Weiss and Craig Oettinger.

Abraham Joshua Heschel’s experience with evil did not turn him away from God. Rather, he used traditional Jewish belief to construct a theology that is based on a radical amazement of being alive and our consequent obligation to repair the world.

Join Rabbi Scott of Congregation Shma Koleinu (CSK) and Craig Oettinger (of First UU as well as CSK) for an evening of Heschel’s philosophy, poetry, and theology. You will leave with an approach to life (and God’s place in it) that is both “peace-affirming” and “world-interrupting” – essential elements of Jewish tradition.
