Welcome to First UU Church!
Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of our inclusive, supportive church community! We invite you to join us as you explore Unitarian Universalism, learn more about First UU Church and consider making us your spiritual home.

We are now meeting in-person and offer both an in-person and an online path to membership. Please see both options below.

Steps to Membership

1

Attend our Inquirers Series
The first step is to attend at least three of our Inquirers Series sessions. We hope you are able to attend all of our seven different sessions. Please note that Membership 101 must be one of the three sessions you attend. The online Membership 101 is on the second Thursday of every month. You can send an email to margarita@firstuu.org to receive the Zoom link, and other arrangements can also be made upon request.

The Inquirers Series are held Sundays a few minutes after each service and rotate through the following topics:

UU History & Sources
Worship & Liturgy
Membership 101
Justice Advocacy & Community Projects
Virtual Offerings & Livestreaming
Music Program
Meet the Board of Directors & the Healthy Communications Team

The list of upcoming Inquirers Series topics can be requested by sending an email to  membership@firstuu.org or info@firstuu.org. Please let us know if you would be attending in-person or online.

Fill Out a Member Profile Form
This two-page form is sent to you digitally and can be filled out online. On this form, we ask you for your contact information, privacy preferences, issues that you are most interested in, and First UU Church groups you may want to explore/join. This form can also be requested by email at membership@firstuu.org

3

Make a Pledge Commitment
First UU Church asks each member to donate not only of their time and talent, but part of their ‘treasure’ as well. Each year, we ask you to pledge for the upcoming fiscal year, which begins on July 1st, thus allowing the Senior Minister and Board of Directors to create a budget.

Our church depends on the generosity of all its members and friends, and welcomes all pledges! We acknowledge the wide range of economic circumstances members may face, therefore, all pledge amounts are accepted and welcomed. There is no minimum pledge required. Please clickHEREif you would like to make a pledge to First UU Church today!

Conversation with the Senior Minister
As a new member, you will have the opportunity to talk to our Senior Minister about what has led you to join First UU Church, your spiritual journey and growth. This is an informal conversation where you will also be able to ask questions regarding First UU Church.

As you continue your own path into Unitarian Universalism and decide to join our church community, we hope you find groups that match your interests and passion, volunteer opportunities where your donation of time and talents provide you with a rewarding experience, and where you are encouraged to continue your own spiritual search and growth.

Need Help?

Let us know if you have any questions regarding our church community, the membership process or if we can help you be part of this welcoming congregation.
Our offices are open 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Thursday. You may reach us at 713-526-5200 or via email at membership@firstuu.org

Online Steps to Membership

Many people have joined our online community and because not everyone is able to attend our services or other church activities in-person, we also offer an online membership process. This includes steps 2, 3 and 4 listed above, and offers an online option for attending the Membership 101 session.

Our Inquirers Series are now available for everybody who would like to attend online. If you are interested in joining First UU Church as an online member or if you have any questions, please send an email to membership@firstuu.org
