Voting Justice

UUtheVoteB

We are facing unprecedented threats to the values that help our communities thrive: equality, dignity, and bodily autonomy. We are also in a time of collectively reimagining democracy itself. In 2022, we are going all-in on encouraging voting where people will have the opportunity to #VoteLove and #DefeatHate at the polls. Our communities are hungry for a politics of love that centers compassion, care, justice, and equality.

The 2022 midterm elections are not just about what’s at stake (though it certainly is that), but what is positive: a coordinated local, state, and national movement of communities working together to fight for justice, accountability, and equity. This is a critical time to win real victories for our communities.

Let's bring our values to the midterm elections
and UU the Vote in 2022!

In 2020, our collective work - postcards and letter-writing parties, ongoing phone banks, voter registration drives, and community partner events - resulted in UU the Vote reaching three million voters nationally. This year we want to do it again, only better, by expanding our local volunteer base, engaging more congregations, and supporting you with tools to connect with your friends and neighbors across all our communities. #VoteLove

UU the Vote Needs You!

"RECLAIM OUR VOTE" POSTCARDS

Writing postcards and letters to voters is
essential
to making sure voter have timely and accurate information to make they vote and that their vote counts in 2022. This part of our program seeks to support voters that
can be overlooked and ignored, most often BIPOC, rural, and youth voters. When our votes are ignored, our issues are ignored. It is critical to work with all voters to point
out any voter access issues that may arise due to changing laws and maps. Let’s make sure folks now what they need to vote as
early as possible.

LWV VOTER REGISTRATION

For over one hundred years, the nonpartisan
League of Women Voters
has worked tirelessly to create a more perfect
democracy, one in which all citizens can fully participate and have their voices heard.
The League focuses on voter education to teach voters how to vote and provide them with non-biased information on candidates for election. As a major part of the the League mission, LWV sponsors voter registraton
events and the organization is constantly looking for volunteers to help register new voters.

TMO DOOR-TO-DOOR CANVASSING

Going door-to-door to talk with potential
voters
can be a bit daunting, but not if you're
canvassing with friends. By partnering with The Metropolitan Organization of Houston, a grassroots, values-based organization
that brings people of all faiths together to improve the lives of Houstonians, we
can find opportunities to go door-to-door in neighborhoods around the city prior to the midterm election, and do it with like-minded people! Make canvassing fun &
effective by signing up to be a part of a canvassing team.
