Dear Members and Friends,

What an exciting flurry of holiday activities there has been at the church! We hope you’ve been able to join us! The Christmas Pageant on Sunday was a very well attended highlight of the season. The young folk enthusiastically told and sang the ancient story of the Nativity. On Wednesday, our annual Winter Solstice Vespers in Channing Hall was attended by friends and members both in person and online.

The solstice has been observed with rituals and festivals by many different religions throughout history. We acknowledge and honor the various holidays observed during this season, such as Hanukkah and Kwanzaa (and even Festivus!), and those who observe these.

We realize that this time of year may be difficult for some, especially when others, at least outwardly, seem to be happy and doing well. Our Christmas services will be a special place for those who want to feel the love and support of your church community. We have two services on Christmas Eve (with cookies and cider in between!) and one on Christmas Day at 10:30 am.

Even if we can’t expect a picturesque snowfall worthy of the Hallmark Channel, the weather has shifted to put us in a holiday mood. We know many of you will be bundling up to enjoy family get togethers this weekend. Be sure to stay warm and safe while you’re traveling.

On behalf of the staff and board, we sincerely wish each of you a joyous and healthful holiday season and new year.
