March 3, 2022(1 event) 6:30 pm: Navigating Grief (Closed Group) – The Spaces for Reflection and Sharing program has wound down, but Rev. Scott is preparing to offer a grief workshop for First Church members and friends early in the new year. Navigating Grief is a class for those experiencing grief due to a significant life change, such as death of a loved one or divorce. This is a six-consecutive-week course, and participants should plan to attend all six sessions. While most of the session work is done in a group process by participants, facilitators have information to impart as well. There is “group-think,” self-processing, table-sharing opportunities, and some writing work between sessions. This group is closed, meaning that no new participants will be admitted during this cycle. Please stay tuned for the next cycle if you are interested in participating. |

Wil Gafney – We are pleased to welcome a visit from womanist biblical scholar and Brite Divinity School professor Rev. Wil Gafney, Ph.D., to First Church on March 12th and 13th. Join us for "A Women’s Lectionary: Translating for Thirsty Ears and Hungry Eyes" on March 12th at 10:00 AM. Rev. Gafney will also preach our 9:30 AM & 11:30 AM Sunday services. 1:00 pm: Garden Team Work Day – Join the Garden Team for a work day at First Church! Work begins at 1:00 PM. |

Beginning Sunday, March 27, 2022. Between services (10:45-11:15 am) in the First Church sanctuary (live stream available), Dr. Rocke and Chelsea de Souza will present an informative performance of one of her original works. “Singing HERstory” pays homage to the life and achievements of inspiring women from the banner exhibit, Sing the Truth: Voices from The Amistad Center for Art & Culture located in Hartford, Connecticut. This production is a celebration of the African American female performance tradition and its impact on the fight for freedom and equality. For more than 150 years, several women defined career paths that fed them artistically and financially as they enriched this nation and the world. Discover the music and acclaim of fourteen pioneering women including Sissieretta Jones, Marian Anderson, Mahalia Jackson, Pearl Bailey, and Lola Falana. |
