Aspirations for 2024-25

Aspiration 1: Identity -
“What kind of a church do we want to become?”

  • Build a culture of caring for and encouraging one another.
  • Live into our vision of widening love’s circle through focused and engaged social and ecological justice, service and advocacy work in the community.
  • Make the Mission, Vision, and Covenant common knowledge, and develop a Five-Year Strategic Plan and Annual Vision of Ministry to inform decision-making.


Aspiration 2: Governance, Ministry, and Administration-

"How can we have a healthy relationship with our Senior Minister with the Unitarian Universalist movement as a whole?”

  • Expand the Pinancial capacity of the Church in order to sustain fair compensation, enhance our physical plant, grow programs, and plan for the long-term future of the congregation.
  • Prepare the congregation to call a Settled Minister.


Aspiration 3: Multiculturalism, Anti-racism, and Inclusion-

"How can we increase diversity in our church and work to dismantle white
supremacy?”

  • Engage the congregation in deep dialogue on multiculturalism, anti- racism, true inclusion, and our journey towards spiritual wholeness.
  • Align the institutional framework of the Church with the proposed 8th Principle of Unitarian Universalism. Encourage the increased involvement of members from underrepresented groups in congregational life and Church leadership at all levels.
  • Build a diverse, intergenerational, multicultural Beloved Community in the Church.


Aspiration 4: Growth and Membership Engagement-

"More people should be here with us - how do we engage them?”

  • Provide more structure and opportunities for engagement within and beyond the Church: In congregational life -- pastoral care, building community, Pinding meaning, contributing skills to teams and committees, developing leadership, etc; With community needs, programs, and organizations, so that the Church is visibly engaged with our partners; With larger organizations like the UUA, UUSC, and Houston area UU congregations.
  • Increase active membership to 330 and provide a path for involvement of members, their children and youth.


Aspiration 5: Spirituality-

“How do we increase and deepen the spirituality of this Congregation and its members?"


  • Create opportunities for all members to feel welcome to seek their own spirituality.
  • Create a wide spectrum of experiences and opportunities for all members to develop their own spirituality.
  • Create ministry affinity groups of all kinds for shared experiences
  • Provide multiple religious opportunities and experiences.
