Arts Forum: Artist Boat

Based in Galveston, Artist Boat is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote awareness and preservation of coastal margins and the marine environment through the disciplines of the sciences and the arts. Since their inception in 2003 over 220,000 participants have been served: over 106,000 of their participants have been students who explored the estuary by foot, kayak, or vessel; over 80+ public art works have been created for campuses and communities; over 1,039 acres of land has been conserved with 204 acres underway on West Galveston Island forming the Coastal Heritage Preserve; over 90+ acres of dunes and prairies have been restored, over 2,000 teachers have participated in Professional Development, and over 900 people have beautified buckets to keep our beaches clean.
