Planting Trees

Social Justice

Social Justice Team

Our Social Justice efforts in the Fort Bend area are guided by our Social Justice Team. The team meets annually to plan a variety of opportunities to serve in our community. This year volunteer opportunities include, among others, helping the homeless, community building projects, and planting trees for Houston. In addition the Thoreau/Stafford campus started and maintains a scholarship that pays college tuition for low-income students who are the first in their family to attend college.

Shared Offering Partners

The Thoreau/Stafford campus shares our Sunday offering each week, giving away half of the donations to nonprofit organizations which share our values. Some of our recipients of the shared offerings include:

  • Fort Bend Family Promise
  • Planned Parenthood
  • East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry Food Pantry
  • The Thoreau Scholarship
  • Armstrong Elementary (to send all 2nd graders on a field trip)
  • Fort Bend Women's Center
  • Fort Bend Literacy Council
  • UUA Clean Water Project
  • Planned Parenthood
