The Rainbow Sign: The Four Hundredth Anniversary of Slavery in the United States

August 2019 marked the four hundredth anniversary of the arrival of enslaved Africans in the English colonies that would go on to become the United States. It is an event as foundational to the nation as the start of the American Revolution, but rarely receives the same notice. We observe this somber event with a service devoted to memory, reconciliation, and redemption.
