The American Republic: How Can We Keep It?

Thoreau – Stafford. Sunday, November 11th, 2018 is the centennial of the declaration of Armistice Day on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, a truce intended to end what was known then to Americans as the “War to End All War.” The collective national sense of American “victory” and the promises of “lasting peace” have unfortunately proved illusory.

This week, as we discovered the results of the most recent national and state elections, many of us may have had virtual experiences of “victory” or crushing “defeats” in adversarial political contexts.
In what we believe will be this Sunday’s LAST worship service at the Stafford campus beginning at 10:15 am, Rev. Dan, our Thoreau campus Minister, will share reflections on how we may choose to react to the most recent outcomes of our democratic process.
