Music and Choirs (MD)
Our Sanctuary Choir sings most Sundays, supported by our long time accompanist, Bob Fazakerly, and our music director, Mark Vogel. We sing great anthems of the classical tradition as well as newer composed works by Unitarian Universalist composers and others with messages in keeping with our UU principles.
We also have folk and contemporary ensembles, which offer music selections at various services throughout the year for the Sunday worship service and on special occasions. No audition is required; new singers of all ages are always welcome.
Ad Hoc Music
Participation opportunities are available for those with previous music training. These individuals and groups perform occasionally throughout the year and during the summer months by audition.
Children and Youth Choirs
These choirs rehearse before service on Sunday mornings in the weeks preceding their participation in the worship service. Each sings for services in the sanctuary several times a year and for special occasions. Songs meaningful to UUs are learned both by rote and by note, with an emphasis on musical learning. No audition is necessary, but consistent attendance is required to ensure a fun, successful experience.
