Our Ministry
Ministry means attending to the wants and needs of others. It is enlightened service to those in need. At First Church, ministry is something that our congregation does, service for each other and for others in need. To find out more about our service to those beyond our walls see: Faith in Action.
The ways we minister are many. Our varied ministry includes a Care Team that supports members who are ill; Befrienders, a listening ministry of lay pastoral care; programs and classes for our children, youth, families and adults; workshops and speakers on social justice issues, art and music groups, gardening, sharing meals and much, much more.
Our ministers provide inspiration, guidance, support, and leadership for us. Our Senior Minister is the Rev. Dr. Daniel O'Connell and our Affiliate Minister is Adam Robinson. They lead our Sunday services, lead and coordinate groups and programs, and provide pastoral care. If you’d like to read some past sermons by our ministers, visit our sermon archive.
Our music program is one of the cornerstones of our church life. We have an adult choir which sings most Sunday mornings along with choirs for children & youth. Occasionally special singing groups that get together for the pleasure of singing and provide music for services and events from time to time. Our director of music, Jason Oby and our organist/pianist, Bob Fazakerly are keys to our success.
Our varied ministry to each other and to those beyond our walls is evolving and growing all the time. We welcome you to join us and be a part of the exciting changes happening at First Church.
