We’re a bit shy of a quorum for August 8. But many who will miss this month’s gathering would like to tackle this month’s topic.  So-o-o we’ll skip August and reconvene in September.  Come join us then to discuss Human Rights:  What are they?  And who gets to decide?
Where:  Tutto Bene Winery 13003 Murphy Rd. Suite M-10, Stafford, Texas 77477
Bring:  Snacks to share and your name tag (Wine available for purchase)
Topic:   Human Rights
Human rights.  What are they?  Who determines them?  And on what basis?
Our impeachment discussion last night veered so often into the concept of human rights, especially in terms of the issues at our southern border, that we considered devoting an evening to discussing varying views of those rights.  Later we sampled a July 10 New York Times article by Masha Gessen. It addresses Trump’s July 8 announcement of the composition of a new body called the Commission on Unalienable Rights.  That persuaded us that yes, it would be very interesting to discuss more broadly the surprisingly controversial concept of human rights.
